Saint Pius Tenth Urban Catholic Parishes Scholarship Program

Our Catholic Schools have been a ministry of our Diocese since 1836. The first Catholic school in the Diocese of Rochester was in the basement of the original Saint Joseph’s Church on Ely Street in the city of Rochester. In order to provide more Catholic families living in the city of Rochester with an opportunity for a Catholic education, Saint Pius Tenth School established an Urban Catholic Parishes Scholarship Program in September 2016.

The focus of this program will be to provide Catholic families of need from the urban Catholic Communities with scholarships in the form of tuition aid. Up to 80% of a family’s tuition will be covered under this program. Scholarships will be needs-based, using USDA National School Lunch Program income guidelines and would require the recommendation from the local pastor. Funding for this scholarship program will be provided through the Saint Pius Tenth School Annual Tuition Assistance Campaign and DOR school subsidy program.
